JOB DESCRIPTION
LINE RELATIONSHIP
Accountable To: Chairman and CEO
Responsible To: Principal/Regional Principal
1. JOB PURPOSE
1.1 To lead Nursery Team in providing high quality childcare and planned activities appropriate to the age and stage of development of the children.
1.2 To maintain a safe, secure and caring environment adhering to company policies and procedures.
2. DUTIES
2.1 To deputise for the Nursery Principal and be responsible for the daily running and administration of the nursery whilst adhering to the Policies and Procedures of the nursery, ensuring compliance with the Children Act and Health and Safety legislation, all within the requirements and guidelines laid down by Ofsted/CSIW and the National Standards.
2.2 To respect and ensure confidentiality is maintained in the nursery.
2.3 To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy Nursery playrooms and equipment.
2.4 To ensure good hygiene is maintained at all times.
2.5 To ensure all children and staff are signed in and out.
2.6 To ensure only people known to the nursery collects the children.
2.7 To accurately record accidents in the accident book and ensure that parents sign accident forms.
2.8 To supervise nursery staff, conduct regular staff assessments, recognising training needs, monitoring training and developing teamwork.
2.9 To organising regular staff meetings.
2.10 To work together with the Human Resources to ensure effective recruitment.
2.11 To care and supervise children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
2.12 To supervise the planning and preparation of activities to develop all aspects of the child’s individual development within a stimulating atmosphere. To ensure all developmental records and observations are kept on children’s files dated and cross referenced to EYFS guidelines.
2.13 To provide inspiration to nursery children in all areas of learning incorporating ‘Birth to Five’. Creating exciting inspirational activities to promote the areas of learning in the studios.
2.14 To ensure that the preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the nursery playrooms, kitchen and equipment are carried out according to the Policies and Procedures and risk assessment.
2.15 To liaise with parents and negotiate of working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery.
2.16 To communicate with parents and other visitors in a calm, friendly and efficient manner.
2.17 To assist the Principal in ensuring a tier system of management is in place and that duties are delegated fairly. Maintaining staff ratios and ensuring staff are deployed effectively to carry out their duties in line with their job descriptions and contract of employment.
2.18 To attend all in and out of working hours activities e.g. monthly staff meetings, training etc.
2.19 To work as part of the team by supporting all staff and engaging in a good staff team.
2.20 To ensure all documentation is accurately recorded and dated.
2.21 To understand and be able to follow emergency procedures.
2.22 To ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented in Nursery.
2.23 Help the creation and development of the new nursery concept.
